The PMDC Secretariat
9 Hannah Benka-Coker Street

27th August 2009

Dear Partisan,

I write to tender my resignation from the Peoples Movement of Democratic Change (PMDC) party, of which I am a founding member and one time National Womens Leader, due to the following summarized reasons.

I strongly and sincerely believe that the leadership of the party has woefully failed the movement and I as an individual.

According to Charles Francis Margais message to the entire nation, one of the main reasons why he left the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) was due to the manipulation of the partys constitution and the fact that he felt robbed of victory at the SLPP Makeni convention.

Based on the flawed nature of the just concluded PMDC National Delegates Conference in Kenema, I have now come to the realization that Charles Margai is in fact guilty of the same act of manipulation that saw him abandoning his membership of the SLPP and subsequently forming the PMDC alongside a good number of those of us who have always sympathized with him until now when it has come out clearly that he has redirected the original focus of the party to suit his own convenience.

As a result of his dictatorial and tribalistic tendencies, coupled with his display of ungratefulness and disrespect for the opinions and views of other better heads around him, most of the founding and influential members who over the years made tremendous sacrifices to make him what he is today, have either left the party or are sitting on the fence in outright disappointment at the makings of the current leadership.

Most of them, including my humble self, feel very strongly that Margai perceives the PMDC as his personal property and therefore does not consider anyone important to the progress and cohesion of the party. He has succeeded in building a cabal around himself, and what that cabal has so far achieved is planting the seed of discontent among members of the party, thereby leaving them with no option but to resign or become passive members.

Due to the above reasons and many more which I feel constrained to mention, I dont see myself continuing my membership of the party under the disrespectful and failed leadership of Charles Margai. I HAVE RESIGNED.
