This is a direct response to the APC mouthpiece’s - We Yone Newspaper - attempt made yesterday at defending the intimidatory, scare tactics of the pro-APC, Limba Matorma masked devil which tactics they are passing off as Sierra Leone “culture”.
Â
The APC should note that it is not culture to scare people that if they do not bow down in front of a red clad masked devil, they will die in a mysterious way. That is intimidation.
The APC should note that it is not culture to import customs known and understood only in Limba heartlands right into the metropolis of Freetown (with its cosmopolitan population) and expect non-Limbas to follow these customs by force. That is sheer arrogance.
Â
Frankly, there is nothing wrong with the mysterious Matorma Limba Devil performing its culture within Freetown but confine such performances to Limba-inhabited compounds especially since the strange Matorma devil has a law that people must bend down when Matorma bends down and only rise up again when Matorma chooses to rise up.
So, any non-Limba who willingly enters a compound where a Matorma is performing knows beforehand what he or she is going to be subjected to:- Willingly bending down and getting up and bending down and getting up according to how and when the Matorma feels like it.
