Yesterday September 17, 2009 marks exactly two years since the All Peopleís Congress (APC) assumed the citadel of power on the 17th September 2007.

Diverse comments have so far been raised by various schools of thoughts, including the APC, SLPP, PMDC and ordinary citizens.

The National Secretary General of the of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peopleís Party (SLPP) described the APCís two years in power as nothing to write home about.

Jacob Jusu Saffa said all the APC has recorded is a deteriorating situation. He furthered that the prices of essential commodities, including rice and fuel, have escalated uncontrollably due to what he described as poor economic management.

J.J. Saffa accused the ruling government of spending huge amounts of money on "bogus contracts" and "unnecessary overseas travels".

He alleged that the President always take along large delegation whenever he travels to overseas, adding that five to six ministers travels out of the country on a weekly base to attend what he termed as "conferences with no substantial returns".

The SLPP Scribe said the two years in power of APC has recorded an increase in the rate of youth unemployment, whilst attributing the rampancy in petty thievery and armed robbery to the effects of unemployment.

He said the APC has brought untold sufferings to the people of this country, adding that economic hardship is hitting the citizens day-in day-out.

He said the APC has woefully failed the people of this country, due to their refusal to emulate best practices of the SLPP.

Government Spokesman, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, who also doubles as the Minister of Information and Communication is satisfied with the "success story" of his government.

Alhaji Kargbo said the APC has sustained the democratic and peace process in the country.

According to him, the APC has implemented a new style of administrations known as the "Agenda for Change". The APC government, he continued, has prioritized agriculture, adding that the President has since given the required support with the provision of tractors and seed rice among others, in order to achieve the food security target.

The provision of energy and infrastructural development are among the "achievements" of the APC I.B Kargbo is proud of.

He pointed out that the SLPP would not have lost power if they had managed the country effectively.

He said his government is putting in place structures for employment, whilst citing the yet to be achieved Youth Commission as a typical example.

Minister Kargbo also alleged that his government is putting modalities in place to beef up the dwindling education system in the country.

Mr. Michael P. Fortune, Public Relations Officer of the Peopleís Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) described the APCís two years in power as a mixture of good and bad. He has however, insisted on withholding further comments on grounds that the President asked to be given three years before the citizen start assessing him.

Meanwhile, a majority of the local populace have expressed disappointment on the APCís two years, as a result of the present predicament faced by the citizens.

However, the APC received few praises for the provision of electricity in the city.
