A group of street boys at the Bombay Street market, reportedly robbed a middle aged woman, Mrs. Maria Koroma, during the early hours on Sunday 8th January 2006.
Mrs. Koroma, a petty trader who sells ‘fry-fry’, and residing at Mayekineh, Calaba Town, is said to have arrived very early down town as usual, to buy some food items at the Guard Street market (Dove Court), when she reported encountered the bad boys who later made away with the money she had in her possession..
Mrs. Koroma, explaining her ordeal to Awareness Times yesterday, said she was confronted by the group of boys shortly after she arrived at the said market.
Soon afterwards, Mrs Koroma reported that she was attacked by a group of small boys who she said asked her for the money she had in her possession. Her refusal to tender the money, she said, the boys stabbed her on her neck and on her hand by one of the boys. She further stated that the boys were armed with knives.
According to her, her husband died during the war, and that since then she had been the bread winner of her family. She also pointed out that she has a number of family matters to adsdress, and that the only thing she is embarked on to make ends meet is her ‘fry fry’ business.
In tears, she told this press that now that she has been striped of the Le 150,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones) she had, she doubts whether she will be able to meet up with the challenges to take care of her family’s welfare and to pay the school fees of her children. The matter is said to have been reported at the Eastern police station. The lady is currently hospitalized.
