Sierra Leone Fails Governance Test


Local tabloid reports have coated the just released Mo Ibrahim Foundation 2009 Index of Governance, to have exposed that Sierra Leone ranks below average both at continental and regional level in terms of good governance. Reports say the government is yet to make any statement as to why it failed the recent test, but however, reports went on, local Non-Governmental Organization, Campaign for Good Governance (CGG) has promised to come out with their statement after they shall have studied the report.


PMDC Chairman on APC Payroll


Reports have it that the Chairman of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Mohamed Bangura has been accused by his party members of receiving a whopping sum of US$4, 500 from the All Peoples Congress (APC) government as salary to float the relationship between the two parties. Reports went on that the PMDC Chairman is receiving the said amount through the National Telecommunication Commission (NATCOM).


3 Jailed for Stealing Government Books


News says a Magistrate Court in Kono has jailed three men who pleaded guilty to possession of Sierra Leone Government text books unlawfully. According to reports, the three convicts were fined and given an alternative of various jail sentences by the Magistrate.


Man Loses Manhood after Mysterious Touch


Newspaper report says the penis of one Mohamed Bangura residing in Aberdeen has reportedly got missing after receiving a touch from one Hassan Bangura of the same area. According to sources, Mohamed accused Hassan of mysteriously snatching off his manhood shortly after receiving a body contact with the latter. However, reports say the accused has confessed to the local community Chief of been guilty of the offence, stating that it was a mission given to him by an ex-girlfriend of the victim who has suffered unrequited love from the victim.


Leicester Community Bitter with APC Government


Local tabloid report says members of the Leicester community has on a community meeting summoned by the All Peoples Congress (APC) Member of Parliament Hon. Raymond Jones at the Leicester community center to register their grievances. Reports further stated that the meeting was expected to be a reconciliatory one, but turned out to be a very bitter one as community members had the opportunity to vent out their frustrations against the APC government for having totally neglected the community since the ugly incident allegedly caused by Councilor Margaret Saidu Kargbo five months ago.


Armed Robbers Put Lunsar Under Siege


It was reported that armed bobbers that are said to be armed with automatic rifles and pistols have forced their way into several homes and business houses in Lunsar, where they are said to have carted away valuables including cash and other household appliances. Reports say police officers in Lunsar claimed they are constrained as a result of lack of vehicles and men that they have, adding that the squarely depend on reinforcement from Makeni whenever they have reports about the activities of armed robbery.


APC Minister Blasts APC M.P


Newspaper reports have it that the Social Welfare Gender and Childrens Affairs Minister Dr. Soccoh Kabia has referred to Hon. Julius Nye Cuffie as mischievous. Reports say Dr. Kabia was reacting to allegations raised by Hon. Cuffie about the proposed Disability Bill. It could be recalled that the MP had earlier said the Minister has changed several aspects of the Bill. Dr. Kabia said his Ministry has done just a draft and not a final copy of the Disability Bill, adding that they were supposed to convene another meeting with stakeholders including the disabled union on the draft disability bill.


Defense Minister Vows to Give RSLAF a Facelift


Reports have it that the Minister of Defense Rtd. Maj. Paolo Conteh has vowed to give the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) a facelift. Reports further stated
that the Defense Minister made this vow while addressing pressmen at his Tower Hill office past Friday where he was reported to have expressed concern over the condition under which a good number of the men and women of the force are living across the country, such as the conditions of the barracks in which these men are living.
