According to media reports, the MP in question is said to have been out of touch with the people who voted him to power. As a result, most residents are complaining that they have never set eyes on him since his election as MP. Reports say the said MP migrated from the constituency right from the day he was elected and settled himself and his family somewhere in the west end of the city and had reportedly never visited his constituency. This, reports went on, has not been welcomed by residents of the constituency and calls for governments prompt intervention.

2 Feared Dead in Fire Accident

A wild fire has reportedly claimed the lives of two teenage girls along Pademba Road in Freetown. According to reports, the two teenagers met their untimely death after a wild fire supposedly to have been caused by an electric collusion between a generator machine and supplies from the National Power Authority (NPA) in the afternoon of Tuesday 20th October 2009. However, reports say the death of these teenagers was blamed on the Sierra Leone National Fire Forces (NFF) delay to respond to their urgent call.

Visa Impostor in Police Net

One Alimamy Turay, a resident of 15 First Street in Freetown, who according to sources, claimed that he was a citizen of America and also claimed to help people secure visas to America, is presently in police net, local tabloids have revealed. According to reports, the impostor was on Tuesday 20th October 2009 arrested by a police officer attached to the Kissy Police Post, shortly after he was reported to have duped a businessman the sum of 4,000 United States Dollars in an agreement to pay for a visa to the states. The suspect is presently helping the police in their investigations.

MP Blasts President Koromas Agenda for Change

Local tabloid reports say Hon. Mathew Nyuma of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), representing Constituency 9 in the Kenema District has raised serious concerns over the regionalism, sectionalism and tribalism being practiced by the present APC government led by President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma. Reports say the MP raised these concerns on Monday 19th October 2009, while responding to the Presidents speech in Parliament during the State Opening of the Third Parliament of the Second Republic. Hon. Nyuma is reported to have said that the Presidents call for the change of attitude is still yet to be achieved, as according to him, the unwarranted, direct and massive sacking of the southerners wrongly perceived to be members of the SLPP is getting stronger and stronger every day.

It was reported that Women in the Security Sector-Sierra Leone chapter have received a boost by a tacit collaboration with the National Fire Force. Reports say this was disclosed by the Coordinator WISS-SL Mrs. Francess Nyuma, who said they have been receiving the cooperation of the various sectors but that the National Fire Force has taken the lead in partnering with them and to propagate their message in the force with the view to actualizing it.
