The Youth Ambassador of Sierra Leone Antonio Navo (Jnr) has called on potential investors around the world to focus their business trends to Sierra Leone. He said there are lots of business opportunities that have been discovered, of which many more are yet to be discovered due to the lack of investment in those areas.

The Ambassador made this statement at an Investment Promotions Seminar organized by the Chinese Government held at the Central Conference Hall in China on the 16th to 29th October 2009.

Delivery a twenty-page presentation, Ambassador Navo said "after the 42nd Annual Economy Growth in 1960, Sierra Leones economy experienced two decade of progressive economic decline mainly caused by external economic shift, poor economic management in sustained economic reforms and failure in governance". He noted that at present, Sierra Leone has achieved considerable progress in economic, political and social recovery since the end of the civil war, adding that the government has now embarked on economic policies that aimed at sustainable economic growth and development. Private sectors, he went on, are growing in the country, adding, several financial institutions are now promoting private sector development through schemes that provides resources required for entrepreneur.

Mr. Navo focused his presentation on agricultural export, mining, fisheries, tourism, customs, infrastructure, financial service, trade policy and institutions, among others.

He used the forum to appeal to potential investors who witnessed the seminar to focus their attentions to Sierra Leone and identify areas of investments.

"Despite the abundance of minerals flowing in Sierra Leone, there are also hosts of determined youths who are ready to work in the interest of development," Ambassador Navo said.

He commended the Government and the people of Sierra Leone for giving him the opportunity of representing them at a ceremony of such a nature.
