The Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) has on the 5th November 2009 certified nine district health workers to travel to Ghana, in order for them to acquire more knowledge in their various areas of responsibilities.

This was relayed to newsmen in a press briefing held at the Health Ministrys Conference Room, Youyi Building in Freetown, on Thursday November 5, 2009.

Chief Medical Officer in the Health and Sanitation Ministry, Dr. Daoh said the aim of the project is to capacitate district health service workers across the country in order for them to work effectively in their respective regions. He pointed out that nine selected workers will embark on a short term course in Ghana that will enable them to broaden their knowledge.

Dr. Daoh encouraged the selected workers to embrace the training, as they have been chosen amongst several colleagues of theirs to represent Sierra Leone in Ghana. He urged them to serve as ambassadors, whilst advising them to study hard and return home well capacitated.

Addressing the workers, the Acting Minister of Health and Sanitation, Mr. Mohamed Daudis Koroma, informed the participants that they should consider themselves lucky to benefit from such project, whilst encouraging them to take the course seriously.

He furthered that the funds used in the project would have benefited other areas, but the Ministry thought it would be at an advantage to train its workers first.

Minister Mohamed Koroma intimated that the government is well determined to build the capacities of its employees, whilst calling on the beneficiaries to help the government achieve its aims.

He urged them to return home and implement what they would have learnt for the benefit of poor and deprived Sierra Leoneans in the various communities.

The Minister ended by wishing the beneficiaries the best of lucks in their endeavors.
