NETWORK MOVEMENT FOR DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS (NMDHR).
VACANCY ANNOUNEMENT

The Network Movement for Democracy (NMDHR) has received funding from CORDAID in the Netherlands for the capacity building of religious leader to prevent violence against women in the Koinadugu, Pujehun and Kailahun district. This project aim at enhancing the capacity of religious and traditional leaders by the utilization of verses from the Bible and the Koran and the three gender laws to prevent violence against women in Sierra Leone. The project is geared toward the de-bureaucratization of religious and traditional values/norms that discriminate against women and the reduction of the high rate of violence and discrimination against women by utilizing koranic and biblical verses in the context of improving the socio-economic situation of women in Sierra Leone.

Against this background, NMDHR is requesting application form suitably qualify persons to fill the following positions that exist with in the organization:

POSITION ADVERTISED:

Project officers (3 posts)

LOCATION

o Western area - (2 posts) with frequency travels to Pujehun and Koinadugu.
o Kailahun-(1 post)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

She/he will be responsible for the following:

o Organizing baseline surveys which include designing questionnaires and analyzing of survey report.
o Conducting and organizing training workshops for religious and traditional leaders on the utilization of verses from the Bible and Koran on preventing violence Against Women.
o Organizing radio panel discussion on monthly bases.
o Responsible for designing a gender policy Manuel for the organization
o Organizing pre-training planning meetings and consultations at community level with traditional and religious leaders.
o Good writing skills

EXPERIENCE: Not less than two years as a project officer. Previous NGO experience will be an advantage especially working on gender issue.

DURATION OF EMPLOYMENT: Two years contact with an initial probation period of six month with possibility of renewal based on performance.

COMPETENCES REQUIRE:

o Ability to organize workshop and training
o skills in communication, report writing,
o knowledge in research, data analysis and data design
o Good analytical skills and excellent interpersonal skill,
o Proven ability to work effectively with team or group in a multi-social sector.
o Effective verbal and written communication skill
o Ability to work under pressure.
o Applicant must be computer literate

MINIMUM ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT: A bachelors degree in gender or development studies of a minimum with good grounding in women and violence work with minimum of 2 (two) years relevant work experience.
