Over thirty (30) members from the Womens Wing of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) party on Monday 11th January 2010, denounced the imposter First Lady, commonly known as Banya Fakei First Lady. "We only know one First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma as the legally wedded wife of His Excellency Ernest Bai Koroma. We are asking that the case in court against Sylvia Blyden concerning the Banya Fakei First Lady article be dismissed," said Deputy National Womens Leader of APC, Makalay Koroma.

It could be recalled that Dr. Sylvia Blyden was charged to court to answer to libel related charges on the fake First Lady issue. The particulars of offence allege that Dr. Blyden published an article against the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, in an alleged conspiracy to bring disaffection between the President and his wife, the First Lady Sia Koroma.

The APC women on Monday assembled in front of the offices of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to ask for a discharge of the matter, on grounds that it prolongation has succeeded in disgracing the President.

APCs Makalay Koroma said: "This case want to bring embarrassment to us the women of Sierra Leone. The case is long overdue and must be discharged without further delay if justice cannot prevail".

She said the case has several caused discomfiture to APC and the President whenever it is mentioned in court. "We are tired of hearing the noise of an illegal Fist Lady," she noted.

Haja Istau Bangura, Chairlady for Sanda Mabolonto Women expressed similar sentiments on behalf of her association. "We are saddened over this court case, due to the fact that Sierra Leone has only one First Lady," she told journalists, adding: "All what we want to hear on radio is the numerous exceptional performances of our President and not a Gba Nya Fakie First Lady news".

Chairlady for Garrison Street, Salad Ground Market, Salamatu Sesay said: "We only know one First Lady who is Sia Koroma. We are here to see the Minister so that the case be discharged, as it a disgrace to the Office of the President."

Meanwhile in Court No.1 on Monday, Lead Defence Counsel for Sylvia Blyden, Anthony Brewah, made another application for the matter to be discharged on grounds of want of prosecution, in accordance with Section 94 of the Criminal Procedure Act.

Brewah noted that the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the other State Counsels have absented themselves on several occasions on vague grounds, whilst noting that he sees no reason for the uncountable adjournments the case has recorded.

Brewah urged the court to go by the dictates of the constitution and dam the consequences, as it is clear that the prosecution has no evidences.

Presiding Magistrate, Stephen Conteh said the prosecutor was very ill and again adjourned the matter to Friday 15th January 2010.

After the adjournment, over 150 people, who were in court in solidarity with Doctor Blyden, left the court room amidst roaring.
