A group of Nigerians and some prominent Sierra Leoneans residing in Lagos and Abuja respectively have joined the family and relatives of the late businessman, entrepreneur and industrialist Foday Sayenu Sesay to mourn the latters death.

Mr. Sesay died last week in Sierra Leone after a short illness and was buried on Friday January 22, 2009, after prayers at the Bambara Town/Old Field Central Mosque, east of Freetown, the capital.

In Nigeria, Friday saw special prayers being offered by a Jamaat in Lagos Central Mosque, after the 2pm Suhr Prayer.

During the Janazah prayer, two surahs, "Suratil yasin" and "suratil ikhlas" were recited by the worshippers to invoke the power of Allah to not only forgive the departed for any sin he may have committed on earth, but also to grant him eternal rest.

The Jamaat also prayed for courage of the bereaved family, relatives and friends of the departed to mourn like people with faith in the Almighty Allah.

On Sunday January 24th in Abuja Federal Capital Territory, special prayers were also offered by the "Christ Apostolic Church Lugbe 11, on request by one of the members, Elder Oshogba Denis, who described the late man as a friend and brother "whose industrious orientation has benefited me a lot, up to present".

In an interview, A Nigerian based Sierra Leonean businessman and Managing Director of ADAB Freight and Shipping Company, Alhaji A.D.A. Bah, described the late Mr. Foday Sayenu Sesay as a "very very good man". He was regularly coming to my office here in Lagos. "I mean, he used to come to my office nearly every week to transact business".

Alhaji Bah recalled thirteen years ago, when the late man was exporting sewn clothes, bedspread and other sewn textiles to compete with Asians including Indians and Chinese citizens in Lagos Nigeria. "Ay! Allah, I will miss him" said Alhaji A. D. A. Bah.

Mr. Foday Sayenu Sesay was a Director of Starco Insurance Company, a branch of Starco Nigerian PLC.

According to Sierra Leones High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Central African Countries and Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, H. E. Henry O. Macauley, "the late man was one of the very few people that accompanied me to take formal leave of President Ernest Bai Koroma before departing for the Federal Republic of Nigeria".

Mr. Foday Sayenu Sesay was one of the first indigenes to open clothing industry in Sierra Leonean importers of textiles on a large scale

According to Deputy High Commissioner, His Excellency Major General retired Edwin Sam Mboma, the late man has to his credit the sewing of uniforms of Sierra Leone Armed Forces.

He will be sadly missed.
