PRESS RELEASE

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development announces for the information of the general public that the government of sierra leone has remitted a total amount of Le 5,318,385,489.50 (Five Billion Three Hundred and Eighteen Million Three Hundred and Eighty Five Thousand Four Hundred and Eighty Nine Leones Fifty Cents) to the bank accounts of local councils as indicated in the table below for development projects currently under implementation by the various councils. these funds were remitted in march 2010 to facilitate completion of the listed projects.

These represent additional payments to fast track project implementation. initial payments were made in 2009 AS INDICATED IN THE TABLE.

The table below provideS details of projectS including amounts transferred for each project.

CONSISTENT WITH THE PRESIDENT PRONOUCEMENTS DURING HIS VISIT TO KAILAHUN DISTRICT, The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development announces for the information of the general public that the government of sierra leone has APPROVED THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS FOR KAILAHUN DISTRICT:

1. RECONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION OF THE NIXON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AT SEGBEWEMA KAILAHUN AN AMOUNT OF lE 1,800,000,000 (oNE BILLION EIGHT HUNDRED MILLION LEONES) HAS BEEN ALLOCATED TO THIS PROJECT TO COVER THE FOLLOWING PEREMETER FENCE, WALK WAYS, STAFF QUARTERS, MATRONS QUARTERS, MALE HOSTELS, MAIN FEMALE HOSTELS, SUB FEMALE HOSTEL, SISTERS QUARTER, UNDER FIVE CLINIC, CHILD AND MATERNITY WARD, OPERATING THEATRE, DRUG STORE, LASER BUILDING/MAnCHESTERs HOTEL, MORTUARY LABORATORY, UNDER GROUND TANKS AND WATER WELL, ETC. ETC

THE TWO INSTITUTIONS MAY WISH TO CONTACT THE NATIONAL PUBLIC PROCUREMENT AUTHORITY, SIERRA LEONE ROADS AUTHORITY AND THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR SOCIAL ACTION TO ENSURE SMOOTH PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION. FUNDS WILL BE DISBURSED FOR BOTH PROJECTS WHEN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RECEIVES A SIGNED CONTRACT AND A PERFORMANCE BOND.
