New MP Takes Oath


The newly elected Member of Parliamentarian (MP) of Constituency 33 in Bombali District, Hon. Sulaiman Muluku Sesay, a member of the ruling All People Congress (APC) party has reportedly been sworn in by Parliament.  Reports say ,the MP came in following an election to fill created vacuum replace after Hon. Edward .M. Turay was appointed High Commissioner to UK/Northern Ireland.


Bank Awardees Bag  Computers


The Bank of Sierra Leone has reportedly awarded  laptop computers to nine university students as  charity in fulfilling the Banks corporate social responsibility . According to information, the computers were delivered to the students to enhance their academic performance.  The ceremony was reportedly held at the Institute of Public Administration and Management campus in Freetown.


WFP To Feed Malnourished School Children 


The World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director in Sierra Leone, Dr. Christa Rader has reportedly disclosed that, the organization is determine to feed malnourished children in schools with locally milled rice been procured from small-scale farmers that cultivate in Sierra Leone.  She is said to have disclosed that, WFP intends to procure at least 2000 metric tons of rice per annum.  Reports also alleged that, WFP will buy food to feed children less than 5 years, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and people living with HIV/AID.


Bombali Gets New Fullah Chief


Alpha Osman Jalloh has reportedly been inaugurated as the Fullah Tribal Headman of Bombali District.  The new Chief was sworn in by Ministers, 12 crowned Paramount Chiefs of Bombali District, and the Fullah Tribal Head of the Western Area, Dr. Abdulai Timbo.  The Chief was elected following the termination of Chief Alhaji Chernor Sheriff Bahs tenure due to his dictatorial tendencies.


6 Police Indicted For Unprofessional Conduct Against Journalist


Six police officers have already been served their indictments to face tribunal at the Police Headquarters in Freetown unprofessional conduct against Abdul Charles Mansaray, the SLAJ Vice President - North.  According to reports, Mansaray was kidnapped and detained by the officers for no valid reason.


ACC May Charge Lilian Lisk


Local tabloids have alleged that, the Anti Corruption Commission is determined to charge Mrs. Lilian Lisk to Court for receiving bribes from some Chinese fishermen. According to reports, Lisk alleged that, she took the bribe for the former Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resource, Haja Afsatu Kabba. According to reports, Mrs. Lilian Lisk has committed a crime on the grounds that she motivated a public officer to accept bribe.


Ritchard Mbayo to lead SLPP


Local tabloids say, members of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party in Kono have decided to select their son, Professor Ritchard Mbayo as SLPP Presidential Candidate for the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.  According to reports, the Professor has reportedly said that, another five years of APC rule will not be good for the country. 


3 Arrested With Ammunition

Tambi Konday, Alimamy Bangura, and Tamba Nyanquee have reportedly been arrested and charged to court for possessing short gun and cannabis sativa.  According to reports, the suspects were arrested in Bayama Village, Tankoro Chiefdom in Kono.
