The Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children Affairs on Friday 23rd April 2010 launched a social awareness campaign dubbed ĎLove One Anotherí at the ministryís Conference Hall, New England Ville in Freetown.

In her address, the Deputy Secretary of the ministry, Madam Lorna French said the absence of love for one another is one of the factors for the degeneration of this country. "We have observed over the years that people have different minds most of them negative for the development of this country," she said, adding that as they in Social Welfare Ministry deal with people from different social backgrounds, they were encouraging everybody to have one mind. "This will guide us as to where we are heading for as a nation."

She said the campaign is to serve as a message to the people of Sierra Leone to love one another as God love us. "If we change our bad attitudes to good ones, we will understand each other and Mama Salone will develop more than it now," she iterated. She called on the press as partners in development to help to disseminate the information to the general public.

The director for ĎLove One Anotherí campaign, Dr. Christian T. H. Bell in his own statement said if there is no love for each other there will be no progress in Sierra Leone which will negatively affect our improvement as a nation. "Sierra Leoneans should always be loving, peaceful and honest so that God will help this nation in everything we ask for," he charged, while entreating on the need to live and work together as one people.

"This country is a small country for us to not understand and love one another," he continued. He implored every Sierra Leonean to pray against those with bad intentions for this country who are bent on amassing wealth at our expense.

He ended by calling on all and sundry to love Sierra Leone and fear God. Let us be of one mind and abstain from all ungodly practices so that peace and prosperity will follow us and our country Sierra Leone."
