Sierra Leone Music Lovers Upset with Akons Organisers

Sierra Leone best and most popular music artist, Emerson Amidu Bockarie was recently snubbed to perform alongside Akon in Freetown to the chagrin of many music lovers in Sierra Leone. According to reports, Emersons name was deliberately omitted from a list of 20 musicians whose names were on paper to perform alongside Akon, the visiting R& B sensation from the United State of America Akon. Many attendees told journalists that the organizers had political motives behind much of what they undertake which was why they left out the name of Emmerson whose social lyrics recently embarrassed the Government. Meanwhile, Emerson is reported to have ruled out all hard feelings in spite of the embarrassment of him being snubbed by the show organisers.

Alhaji Umaru Sillah Bah resigns

Local tabloids have alleged that, the National President of Supreme Islamic Council of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Umaru Sillah Bah has voluntarily resigned after decades of religious service. Reports say, the former president made this pronouncement at a consultative conference in Freetown where he urged members to look for a young and more dynamic person to step into his shoe. Alhaji Bah is on record to have served as the Kailahun District President of the Islamic Council, the Eastern Region President and finally as the National President of the Council.

Wife murders husband in Moyamba

Reports have alleged that, a 35- years- old woman, Kadie Saybom has murdered her husband at Kasuay Village, Moyamba District, Southern Province. According to reports, the incident emanated from a bitter argument that erupted between the couple. As tempers flared, it is alleged that the wife took an axe and struck her husband. The mortal remains of Lamin have been buried according to reports whilst the police are investigating the matter.

More training for City Council Police

Approximately 134 City and Town Councils police personnel are under taking an intensive training at the Police Training School at Hasting. The personnel who were alleged to have been selected from Makeni, Kabala, and Freetown will take over the responsibilities of policing their respective localities after the training. The training is said will comprise of traffic routine duties, crowd control measures, and other pressing security matters.

Alhaji Osman Boie Kamara boosts Fourah Bay

The former Director of Mines, Alhaji Osman Boie Kamara has according to local tabloids doled out million of Leones to the Fourah Bay Community in Freetown. According to reports, his philanthropic gesture demonstrated his unreserved commitment and dedication towards promoting the welfare of people living in that community. Reports further assert that, Alhaji Osman Boie Kamara has declared his intention for the position of the opposition SLPP presidential candidacy in the forthcoming 2012 elections.

Madina Students Association boost up education

Local newspapers have disclosed that, the Madina Old Students Association is conducting classes for both BECE and WASSCE students. According to reports, the Association is basically undertaking this venture in a bid to empower students to successfully pass external examinations.

Parliamentarians to visit mining sites

Reports have revealed that Members of Parliament, Civil Society, and media practitioners will be visiting mining operations in the country. According to reports, the tour will include Koidu Holdings, African Minerals, and London Mining. The tour is planned to ensure that the MPs and Civil Society assess how mining operations are undertaken countrywide. Reports say, prior to the tour the Green Scenery Organization has sensitized parliamentarians about environmental consequences mining operations cause.
