Landlady  abuses  tenant


A landlady, Jeneba Gbondo of Bumpe, Nimikoro Chiefdom, Kono District has reportedly  been charged to court for sexually abusing her 15 years old tenant, Barrie.  According to reports, the conflict between the landlady and the teenager started when she scolded her younger brothers for wasting water which she suffered to fetch.  A serious confrontation is said to have erupted between them that subsequently caused the landladys children to brutalized Barrie.  It was alleged that the accused inserted a sharp object into the private part of Barrie but said to be responding to treatment.


Kampala Mayor to visit Freetown


The Deputy Mayor of Freetown, Mr. Gibril Kanu has reportedly announced the imminent visit of the Mayor of Kampala, Uganda to Freetown.  According to the Mayor, the Kampala Mayor is expected to come with investors in furtherance of bilateral trade between the two countries.


APC denies sending Liberian thugs to Pujehun


The Secretary General of the APC, Victor Bockarie Foh has reportedly denied allegations that the party has hired Liberian thugs to wreck violence in the forthcoming bye-election for Constituency 91 in Pujehun.  According to reports, the secretary general alleges that the rumour about the importation of thugs from Liberia came from residents in that area and the opposition SLPP.


SLPP Chairman denounces violence


The Chairman of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) in Kenema District, Arthur Koroma has reportedly called on political party supporters to desist from violence ahead of the local council bye election in the Small Bo Chiefdom.  He is reported as saying that political violence has caused so much havoc in Sierra Leone in the resent past which he and the SLPP would not want to be avoided.


Taakor runs away with $ 2.3 Million


Local tabloids have reported that Taakor Logging Company has sneaked out of the country leaving behind a debt of Two Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand United States Dollars for two banks operating in the country.  Reports further alleged that the company has moved to Liberia and all the telephone lines of the manager are off.


Opposition Parties oppose retaining NEC Boss


The opposition SLPP and PMDC according to reports have made strong opposition to President Koromas intention to extend the term of office of Dr. Christiana Thorpe, the Commissioner of the National Electoral Commission (NEC).  It is alleged that President Koroma in a letter written to opposition leaders conferred with them as stipulated by the constitution to extend Madam Thorpes contract for another five years as commissioner.


Police Tribunal to rule on Journalist


Reports say that the police tribunal set up to investigate an inhuman treatment on a journalist at Police Headquarter in Freetown will soon hand down verdict.  Abdul Charles Mansaray, a journalist practicing in Makeni was manhandled and kidnapped by six police officers in August 2010 in Makeni City.  The verdict comes as the tribunal closed argument on the matter recently.
