Senior members of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peopleís Party (SLPP) have told Awareness Times that their party has no hands in ongoing studentsí political campaigning for position of President of Fourah Bay College Studentsí Union(S.U).
They were reacting to a ruling party aligned tabloidís assertion that SLPP was secretly sponsoring the emergence of a growing popularity of Francess Marke, the woman who was highly likely to become FBCís first female Studentís Union President.
"The SLPP respects the rights of students to make their choice of leaders devoid of any national partisan influence. We ran Sierra Leone for eleven years during which we never involved in studentsí politics; we do not plan to start that now" an SLPP member insisted although he acknowledged presence of branch of SLPP on FBC campus.
