Opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) on Thursday presented yet another Member of Parliament in an auspicious and colourful ceremony. Hon. Solomon W Feika will be representing Constituency 91, previously held by PMDCs Sylvester Koroma, whose demise created the vacuum for which a bye-election was held on the 8th of May this year.

In conspicuous attendance were the party echelon, comprising the charismatic national chairman and leader of party, John Oponjo Benjamin, his able charming lieutenant Dr. Kadie Sesay and a host of other executive members, party patrons, ordinary members and supporters that saw a dominant green covering the entire Gallery.

Hon. Solomon W. Feika carried by supporters from SLPP head office to parliament in Freetown.

Since the 2007 elections the SLPP has reclaimed two seats, all in the Pujehun District; the first taken by Hon. Ansu Kaikai. Previously with only 43 seats, the SLPPs parliamentary number has climbed to 45, reducing PMDCs number and nearing that of majority APC.

Making a statement, the leader of Pujehun District Parliamentary Caucus, Hon. J Momoh thanked all SLPP members within and out of the country for their individual as well as collective contribution to ensuring that they party took back the seat in one of its strongholds. He said Hon. Feikas name was synonymous with general academic excellence and wealth of experience in Journalism, Business and Accounting

PMDC Members of Parliament Siaka Sama, representing Pujehun District full of zest and enthusiasm wholeheartedly welcomed Hon. Feika. He used the occasion to appeal to all members of parliament, especially those representing Pujehun to be cooperative regardless of their political differences.

The Majority Leader of the House Hon Sheku B.B Dumbuya of the APC who administered the oath of office at the swearing in ceremony, deputizing both the speaker and his deputy who were unavoidably absent entreated the new MP to work in the interest of the state as demanded by the oath of office.  He said parliamentarians may disagree in debates but always remain friendly when out of the well of parliament. He also called for cooperation among colleagues.
