PMDC Chairman suspended for misconduct

Reports have revealed that the chairman for the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) Mohamed Bangura has been suspended for three years.  According to reports in a unanimous decision was reached at in an executive meeting recently held at the partys headquarters in Freetown.  His suspension was as a result of improper conduct to the leadership of the party.  Sometime back the party executive requested the disciplinary committee to look into a matter with regards his approach to the leader in letter he wrote demanding Charles Margai to step aside.  Mr. Bangura is reported to have been suspended both from his position and membership of the party. 


APRM Engages MPs

It has been reported that the National Governing Council of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM-NGC) past Friday engaged members of parliament on the reports of APRM implementation process in Sierra Leone.  According to reports, the organization is vehemently working to promote good governance in the country, and as a result believes in the engagement of our leaders to be accountable.


Two students stabbed at FBC

At least two students are reported to have been stabbed at the Fourah Bay College last Friday, an incident that marred the electioneering process.  The students were reportedly stabbed in an ensuing frenzy demonstrated by the two opposing camps-the Blacks and Whites.  The Director of Media in the Sierra Leone Police, ASP Samura is reported to have expressed frustration over the behaviour of students who he  said much was expected from as university students.


Traders Accuse Metro Police

Traders in the Central business district of Freetown have reportedly complained officers of the Metropolitan Police Force to the city father for extortion and other forms of corruption. They are alleged to have accused them of working against the development of the presidents Agenda for Change.  According to reports the Police the traders are fed up with the police who always confiscate their wares and the extortion of money from them.


COMAHS students plan to demonstrate

Student of College of Medicine and Allied Health Science (COMAHS) have planned a stage a demonstration against maladministration, according to local tabloids.  They students are said to have noted that proper administrative and academic systems are not in place at the college.  The reports allege that one of the Heads of Departments, has assigned his course to a fourth year student Mohamed Kamara which has not gone down well with them among other issues.  Favoritism and prejudice, compounded by lack of sober lecturers are said to be their other grievances.


President Koroma not happy with Ports Authority

It has been reported that President Koroma on last Friday expressed frustration and disappointment at the manner and ways in which some Customs and Excise department officials of the NRA are working.  According to him they were not working in the best interest of the state.  Reports say the President has received so much complaints from business people with regards difficulties and delays faced by them. The President is reported to have paid on the spot visit to the Queen Elizabeth II Quay to get first hand information.


No Residential Magistrate in Kambia

The Local Unit Commander of Kambia Police Division, Superintendent Litho Lamin has reportedly disclosed that there is no magistrate in Kambia Town in the North.  According to him this is seriously affecting the work of the Police in prosecuting culprits.  He said sometimes suspects are bailed before the arrival of the roving magistrate.
