The Kenema Government Secondary School Old Students Association (KOSA) on Saturday 19th June 2010 officially handed over the mantle of leadership to a newly elected executive. The inaugural ceremony took place at the SAFECON Filling Station, Congo Cross in Freetown.

In his address, the Newly Elected Secretary General of the association, Mr. Bockarie Enssah described the handing over ceremony as a historic event, given the fanfare that accompanied the occasion. "It is historic in the passage of KOSA to observe such a ceremony in grant style," he said, adding that it also served as a reunion for the associations membership with fruitful rethinking of both KOSA and the schools status. He called on members to join hands together to push their school forward.

Delivering his handing over statement, the outgoing KOSA President, Mr. Ibrahim Kamara commended the past executive for their support and commitment they demonstrated over the last six years in uniting the association as well as improving the standard of the school. He lauded the peaceful, transparent and smooth transition from one executive to another. He gave a brief overview of the several issues his executive undertook during their six-year tenure, while entreating the new executive to build on those achievements with a view to improving on them. He also endeared members to disassociate themselves from national politics and focus on the development of the school and the associations constitution.

The newly elected president Mr. Amara Konneh stated that they were prepared to do all what they could to build on what the past executive has started and develop their noble school. "The Kenema Government Secondary School used to be a school of excellence and social integration that was the envy of many which bench marks are to be built back with the current deteriorating trend of affairs," he observed. He assured that new projects will be initiated in addition to the completion of the Pavilion started by the old executive. He therefore asked for the full cooperation of the KOSA membership to help the executive restore sanity in their school.
