As part of the re-branding process for constructive development in the tourism sector, President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma will on Friday 25th June 2010 turn the sod for the construction of new hotels by Leone Lodge PLC at Rogbere and Makeni respectively in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone.

This was disclosed to the press by the Chief Finance Officer of Leone Lodge, Joe Demby at the Taia Resort Hotel in western Freetown on Wednesday evening.

Giving a brief background of the company, Mr. Demby said Leone Lodge is a public liability company owned by private individuals whose aim is to put Sierra Leone on the economic and infrastructural development maps especially in the area of tourism. The company he said was incorporated on the 31st March 2010 as a public liability company and issued an authentic Certificate of Registration on the same date, and that they have appointed an interim Board of Directors to handle the companys affairs comprising of Mr. Abubakarr Multi Kamara, chairman of the company, Wilfred Sam-King who is the Chief Executive Officer, Joe Demby the Chief Financial Officer, George Taylor the company Secretary and Idrissa Kamara the director.

He informed that President Koroma became inspired by the project when he paid a visit at Taiama where he said they have already constructed hotel and lodging for travelers. "The president, having noticed that our initiative was part of his agenda for Change called us for a meeting at State House where he assured us of his readiness to give full support to our ventures," he said, adding that they have already undertaken construction projects in Kenema, Makeni, Rogbere, Bo, Kono and other parts of country of internationally accepted standards.

In his contribution, the chairman of the company, Abubakarr Multi Kamara said it was incumbent on Sierra Leoneans to build the country in a state of the art way. He disclosed that Leone Lodge has already attracted the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce with an agreement to put the company on the website. "Our business plans lay emphasis on tour for both local and international people," he disclosed, while informing that the acquired parcels of land for their projects were genuinely negotiated and all development friendly.

In conclusion he said the various projects will employ many indigenes hence addressing the problem of employment.
