The National Council for Technical, Vocational and other Academic Awards (NCTVA) on 6th July 2010 accredited the Institute for Continuing Education and Consultancy Services (ICECS) at the institutes 78 Dundas Street facility in Freetown.

Presenting the certificate to the institution NCTVA Director Mr. Mohamed Jalloh gave a brief background of the establishment of the council by an Act of Parliament in 2001, saying it was deemed expedient to replace the Institute of Higher Education for emerging opportunities.  He said NCTVA has a council of 37 members in which makes them more credible, adding that they accredit only for diplomas and other certificates to students.

NCTVA Boss noted that since ICECS has fulfilled all the criteria upon the councils assessment, it was worthwhile to recognize its existence and offering of standard tuition. ICECS is now an accredit institution to the NCTVA as we are satisfied with the standard we are looking for in educational institutions, he informed.  He encouraged the administration to do all they can to manage the welfare of the students, and also to keep the institution going.

Receiving the Certificate on behalf of the college, ICECS Registrar, Madam Francess Piagie Alghali disclosed that the institution was established in 22009 out of a felt need to address the youth crisis in Sierra Leone as one of the antecedents of the recent rebel strife in the country.  She said they are part of a corporate entity with Sunset Educational and Development Services (SEEDS) that provide needed professional development training and consultancy services to both the private and public sectors in the West Africa Sub-region.  She said like all tertiary institutions under the purview of NCTVA, their entry requirement is both WASSCE and the GCE O Level credits, adding that they also provide professional, vocational and technical training for NCTVA and ICM courses for the Certificate Accounting Technician Certificates among others. She assured members of NCTVA of their swiftness in developing education in the country and also commended the council for accrediting her institution.
