Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Freetown City Council, Mr. Cyril Mattia has described the Metropolitan Police Force as a disciplined, hard working and loyal group of Sierra Leonean youths who mean well for the City of Freetown and the country as a whole.
Mr. Mattia was reacting in a short press briefing to recent remarks by certain local media houses alleging that personnel of the Metropolitan Force were acting in an unbecoming manner, ruthlessly executing their duties.¬† ďI agree that there might be one or two bad eggs in the city police force that did not imbibe the process of screening, but I can stake that most of our personnel are disciplined and law abiding,Ē he impressed.¬† He said such would not be a surprise as miscreants can be found in almost all our national institutions, with the metropolitan police force being no exception.
ďI however, assure all that we are open to complaints from the public about the activities of council personnel, not only the metropolitan police officers,Ē he informed, adding that¬† they were prepared to investigate and bring to book any personnel found in default and prompt disciplinary action taken against such miscreants.
Mr. Mattia described the Mayor of Freetown, His Lordship Herbert George Williams as a man of vision; one engaged in developmental projects and prepared to raise the standard of the city of Freetown to match up with other cities in Africa and beyond.¬† ďAs you can see several developmental projects such as the construction of markets have either been completed or are underway. He took the opportunity to call on the public to embrace the FCC and its agenda for development, saying it is only with the full cooperation of the public that council would succeed.
