Youth Ambassador, Anthony Navo Jr. has once again demonstrated his leadership acumen by engaging the youth on how to choose and improve on their careers in a one day symposium organized by Children Unite for Attitudinal and Behavioral Change Campaign. The symposium where he gave the lecture took place on 21st July 2012 at the Sierra Leone Library Board, Tower Hill in Freetown, attracting youths as well as students from both primary and secondary schools across the city.

In that delivery, the Youth Ambassador dilated on choices made by individuals, saying about 99% of careers chosen by young people come by accident.  He said career choice is not limited to one endeavor but several attempts as when a young person realizes that he/she has chosen the wrong choice,  it is better that another career choice is made until the right career is chosen.

I therefore admonish all children and young people that you should not brood over loss of resources and energy on an unfortunate career but always think of moving on with another one in life, he intimated, adding that it is but really challenging to hit on the right career in life. Mistakes normally refine ones thoughts and make him/her grow in judgment, the Youth Ambassador noted, while observing that positive mental attitude is essential for young people to make informed choices in life.

He assured the organizers of the programme of his continued support whenever needed. He also called on children and the youth to be mindful of peer group pressures, and to choose careers in life that would make them deliver as responsible citizens.  My utmost priority for young people is education", he noted, as he called on them to use their education in the proper manner.

Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Mohamed Kabba thanked the youth Ambassador for delivering such a wonderful lecture to them. He assured him that they would do all they could to cling to the advice he had given them. He used the opportunity to call on his colleagues to stay focused on what they are doing and prepare to face their different careers.

At the end of the session, Mr. Navo presented the sum of Le100,000 each to six participants for their brilliant questions during question time.
