The good thing about democracy

Despite the growing hiccups in the development of this nation and the unending abuse of the right of innocent people, there still remain a spectre of hope.

This hope which has become the source of light at the end of the tunnel is the "democracy" which Sierra Leoneans have defended against all odds in this post conflict situation.

Had it not been this "good thing about democracy", those in the upper class would have continued to trample on the right of innocent citizens with impunity.

Now, many poor Sierra Leoneans can talk about their rights to justice, sex, opportunity and religion, unlike what the situation used to be in the past.

As indicated in the cartoon, the man entrapped with chains represents those in the upper class. The man being forced on the ground represents the suffering masses.

On the left of the cartoon is a ridiculed figure of a person representing those Sierra Leoneans who see things the right way as indicated in the saying "The good thing about democracy"
