Woman Kidnaps Under 5

Police attached at the Waterloo Police Station are currently investigating a matter involving the Kidnap of a baby at the Waterloo Government Hospital in the Western Rural District. According to reports ,the lactating Mother Ramatu Kanu took the baby to the Hospital for medication as it was suffering from a serious fever. After receiving a medical prescription from the Doctor, Ramatu went to a near by pharmacy to buy the prescribed drugs living her young baby with a well dressed woman whom she thought was a nurse. Returning to the Hospital, Ramatu could not find the impersonated nurse and when she asked the doctor, he denied having knowledge of the said woman as a nurse but just one of the Visitors.

Okada Riders Threaten to go Back to the Dark Days if

The Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Bike Riders Union, Alusine Dumbuya has reportedly alleged that his Union has declared a sit down strike following persistent police harassment. According to him, the enterprise has created employment for a good number of youths in the city thus discouraging them from taking part in criminal activities. He said if the persistent police harassment is not checked by the authorities concerned this will force his members to abandon their enterprise to seek other means of survival . The PRO reports say, commercial bike riders are paying about four hundred thousand Leones as registration fee per bike and three hundred and fifty thousand Leones for customs but police still continue to harass them.

Expired Drugs and Food Items Discovered in Moyamba

Members of the Consumer Protection Council, the police and the Office of the National Security (ONS) have reportedly discovered a large quantity of expired drugs and Food items in Moyamba. The Officials were able to discover the expired items following a thorough search in stores and shops in the district. According to reports the items discovered included cartoons of cigarette, assorted drugs and food items. The items are currently with the Police awaiting destruction.

Street Cleaner Strikes

Reports have alleged that officials of the Freetown Waste Management Company (FWMC) responsible for Street Cleaning and cabbage collection in Freetown have down tooled, for going without salary. According to reports it has always been a habit for the management of FCC to delay the payment of the poor workers salaries. Reports say, FCC has still not given the salary of the workers to the Waste Management Company for payment.

Ministry of Lands to Re-establish office in Kono

Reports have alleged that the Ministry of Lands is planning to re- establish its office in the Kono District. Reports say, the re- establishment came, following the transfer of its Housing Unit to the Ministry of Works, which has led to the closure of the operation of the Ministry of Lands ,Country Planning and the Environment in that area. The Ministry is currently planning to do a paper planning on Land issues in most places.

Kenema City COUNCIL Workers Demand 80% Salary increment

Local tabloids have it that, workers of the Kenema City Council (KCC) have recently staged a peaceful demonstration in Kenema demanding for 80% increment of their salaries. The strike workers have revealed that, government had long approved the increment since last month and other local Councils else where have heeded to the call. Workers say, they will not work until their salaries are increased and as alleged the workers deserved to be given the amount.

UNFPA Donates to MOH

UNFPA has reportedly donated medical items to the Ministry of Health and Sanitarian in support of the Free Health Care services The at the New England Ville in Freetown on Thursday. The items include, micgrogynon 555 carters, microlate 132 cartons, female condoms 400 cartons, male condom 427 cartons all estimated at two hundred and fifty million leones. Reports say UNFPA has always supported the government of Sierra Leone especially the Ministry of Health.

Poor Medical Condition Hits Newton Communities

Reports form the Western Rural District say, resident if the Newton Communities are facing a serious deplorable health condition. The community people are not assessing quality health care as a result of insufficient medical supplies. Pregnant Woman and children are reported to be the most affected people. The Newton Community authorities are kindly asking government and their stakeholders to increase drugs supplies
