The Deputy Director General (DDG) (Admin), National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) Mr. Joseph Mans Jr. has vowed that with support from Sierra Leoneans, NASSIT was ready to transform Sierra Leone through infrastructural development.

The NASSIT Boss made this pronouncement while receiving keys to the completed pilot phase of the affordable houses constructed in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone on Saturday 14th August 2010 in that northern city.

He informed his audience at the well attended ceremony that with support from Sierra Leoneans,¬† the¬† affordable housing project, the transport terminal and shopping mallsí construction projects were just a step in their thousand milesí journey to making Sierra Leoneans proud of the social scheme.¬† He said in their bid to transform and make Sierra Leone once more the Athens of Africa, NASSIT has designed plans to develop the countryís infrastructural sector within the shortest possible period.

The Deputy Director General furthered that the already completed houses in Makeni and Kenema together with the-soon-to-be-completed ones in Bo and Waterloo will be put on sale through a two track approach. The first one he said was by interested Sierra Leoneans purchasing any of the houses through outright purchase, or through mortgage system to be handled by the Home Finance Company (HFC).

Mr. Mans Jr. called on interested Sierra Leoneans to start expressing interest in purchasing the houses so as to give way to the second phase of the project.

NASSIT Regional Director North Mr. Ishmael B. Kandeh said the project does not only aim at alleviating the housing problem on Sierra Leoneans, but also provides as an answer to the stressful call for shelter by low income earning Sierra Leoneans.

The Project Manager Mr. Seray Timbo opined that for a project to be successful, aspects such as contract¬†¬† period, contract quality and cost components should highly be considered. He said they have worked within the time frame and budget of the project in order to ensure its success, adding that they also held several site meetings in which matters of the projectís success were duly discussed.

He said six houses have been perfectly completed in Makeni, four of which he said are of three bed rooms capacity, while the other two are of two bed rooms with a kitchen, two toilets, and a store each.  He also reiterated that they were for sale to Sierra Leoneans through their agent, Home Finance Company (HFC) to dispose of the houses in the form of mortgage to interested Sierra Leoneans. He ended by extending invitation to Sierra Leoneans to start expressing their interest in purchasing the units.
