The support group of one of the youth-favoured intending aspirants for the Position of flag bearer for opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) ahead of the 2012 presidential race, Rtd Brigadier Julius Maada Bio has made an advance payment of Le.10, 000, 000 (Ten Million Leones) to the partys secretariat on behalf of their candidate out of the Le.50m declaration fee demanded by party executive.

Presenting a paying-in-slip issued by the depositing bank to the Secretariat in a short but impressive ceremony at their 15 Wallace Johnson Street National Headquarters, Freetown on Thursday 26th August 2010, the Head of Campaign for Maada Bio, Ex-Councilor John B.S. Tucker revealed that they thought in compelling to make such a presentation to serve as a commitment to their candidate in seeing him through important required documentation processes and registration. He said amount presented on behalf of their aspirant was collected through contributions made by his loyalists in the north, east, south and western regions of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Tucker said each of the four regions contributed the equal sum of Le2.5m (Two million five hundred leones) to the Maada Bio Campaign Trust Fund launched and operated by supporters. He ended by assuring that Bio supporters have promised to pay his candidature fee in full.

Receiving the paying-in-slip from the delegation, the National Scribe Mr. Jacob Jusu Saffa thanked the supporters for demonstrating their loyalty to Maada Bio as their aspirant. Giving a brief retrospect, the SLPP scribe said in the past the party used to be faced with several problems in handling aspirants affairs; but he was pleased to express that such was not experienced this season. He however, cautioned the supporters to continue putting up best practices to avoid clash or misunderstanding with other candidates supporters especially during campaigns. He said their goal as a party was common for which he reminded them that they were not enemies and must embrace each other regardless of the area of interest. He also admonished them to be respectful to the party hierarchy and other aspirants eyeing the leadership.
