A long-expected resignation of the National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peopleís Party (SLPP) occured yesterday when he penned down a letter stating his resignation. The Letter, as shown to Awareness Times by a source within APC Government circles, was addressed to the SLPP Chairman John Benjamin but when this paper contacted Benjamin last evening, he expressed surprise over the issue saying he had not received any such letter even though he was at the SLPP Party offices until late last evening. He declined to comment on the issue as he had not yet received the Letter. However, other Executive members told Awareness Times that they were not surprised and had been expecting the resignation for quite some time now which was why they had taken a proactive step of appointing a Director of Communication to fill in the gap caused by the prolonged regular absence of Tayyib Bah from the country. They also cite the recent allegiance of Bahís close relative to the ruling APC. Unconfirmed but highly credible sources within the APC Government inform this writer that Tayyib Bah will soon be opening a newspaper and radio station specially for the Eastern Province and he will be based in Kenema Town. All efforts to reach Tayyib Bah on his three phone numbers were fruitless. Bah is a veteran journalist who reached the heights of President of Sierra Leone Association of Journalists. He was elected as Publicity Secretaryin 2009.
