The Chief Imam of the Freetown Central Mosque, Sheik Tejan Sillah on Thursday 26th¬†August 2010 commended the initiative of a locally based Non Governmental Organization, ĎYouths Arise!í for rekindling the Islamic ĎGolden Ageí in Sierra Leone. He was speaking at the formal launching ceremony of the Islamic Golden Age at Santana House in Freetown. He prayed for the organization to ever remain united in their positive search for knowledge and national development.¬†
At the launch, ĎYouth Arise!í national coordinator, Ishmeal Abu Kamara said the launching of the golden age in Sierra Leone was stringently in accordance with the discipline of their organization. He informed that their organization recognized the importance of education in all disciplines, including physical and spiritual. He maintained that their organization believed in discipline, hard work and excellence through the practice of their three pillars, namely religion, psychology and physical fitness.
According to Mr. Oswald Hanciles, a patron for Youths Arise, the organization has been in existence for the past ten years. He said through hard work most of their members have excelled academically and are today performing well in their work places. ďHard work is synonymous to the goal of our membership,Ē he disclosed.
On behalf of former President Alhaji Ahmed Tejan Kabbah who was represented by wife Mrs. Isatu Kabbah to grace the occasion, she commended the organization for unfolding such an initiative. She appealed to youths to embrace one another and to be united to develop the country.
Many other speakers also delivered statements including Mr. John Idris Lahai from the Diaspora who chaired the ceremony.¬†¬†
