In what has now become a unique fixture in the New People Online style of journalism, “the double tag approach” the Editor and CEO interviewed SLPP Flag bearer candidates Alhaji Usman Boie-Kamara at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 17th 2010, Lawyer Alpha O. Timbo at 10:00 pm on the same date and Dr. Kadie Sesay on Thursday August 19th at 8:30 pm. We will feature the interviews from these candidates over the next three weeks in our series “Meet The Candidates For SLPP Flagbearers”.
Utilizing the latest in collaborative technology via Skype and Cisco’s Webex, the tech savvy CEO Sheku Kallon was able to collaborate with his editor Sittta Turay from three different geographic locations in the United States. In the case of SLPP Flagbearer aspirant Usman Boie Kamara who was visiting in Tampa, Florida while the New People was on his blackberry in a vehicle utilizing of course his ear piece and the fearless Umaru Sitta Turay located in Laurel, Maryland, the management and editorial team double tagged the candidates. In the case of Alpha Timbo, he was interviewed while at his home in Maryland while Sitta Turay was in a different location in Maryland and Sheku Kallon at his home office in Georgia.
With travel costs skyrocketing and in our attempt to reduce our carbon footprint, we will be able to conduct these interviews from far away here in the US even if the candidate is miles across the ocean in Sierra Leone as long as you have an internet connection, we will be able to see and talk to you live.
This is but one strategy that can be utilized for the 2012 elections and the SLPP is way ahead of the game on this one when compared to the APC.
