V.P Sam Sumana launches IEC & Resource mobilization


Local tabloids reports have it that the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana has officially launched the Resource Mobilization and Communication Strategies and Information, Education and Communication (IEC), materials pioneered by the national governing council of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).  Reports  say   since the inception of the APRM in 2003 much has been done in its activities to restore the dignity of man by initiating s basic fundamental principles of human rights and good governance .The IEC is aimed  at  enlightening  the  general public on the activities of the APRM through the media to disseminate information that will educate the masses on its functions and objectives reports added.


Hajj  Visas to be issued Locally


It has been reported in local newspapers that the Ministry of Hajj Affairs in Saudi Arabia has assured the government of Sierra Leone  that Sierra Leoneans Pilgrims will no longer have to travel to neighboring countries to secure visas for the trip to the Holy Land  of  Mecca..According to reports, the Saudi government will dispatch on the 10th October 2010 two  senior officials to Freetown to issue visas to intending pilgrims. This  move will reduce the constrains and inconveniences  Sierra Leonean Pilgrims have been facing over the years  reports say.


NACSA Conducts  Micro Finance Training in Bo


Newspaper report have it that  the National Commission for Social Action (NACSA) is organizing a three day workshop on micro finance training for Non-government Organizations (NGO) ,Community Based Organizations (CBO) at the one world link multi purpose hall in Bo Southern Sierra Leone. Reports went on that the training attracted over 80 (eighty) participants drawn from Bo, Moyamba, Pujehun and Bonthe District. 


Mercury takes Journalists to Egypt


Local tabloids report say Mercury International operating in Sierra Leone has donated the sum of Le 15,500,000,00 (fifteen million five hundred thousand leones)to sport journalist s to cover the match between Sierra Leone and Egypt in Cairo. Report say the cheque of 15 million leones was received by the president of  the Sierra Leone Association  of Journalists Mr. Umaru Fofanah. Two  senior journalist, Abu Bakarr Kanu (ABK) of Kalleone Radio and Suliaman storm Koroma of Radio Democracy benefited from the trip to Egypt.


SLPP to shock APC 2012


Newspaper reports say a top official of the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) has told journalists that a rude shock awaits the All Peoples Congress  Party(APC) come 2012. According to reports, the SLPP top official is said to have stated that the APC newspaper  is presenting   a picture to the general public that  SLPP is bankrupt and cannot effectively challenge APC in 2012.The SLPP  according to reports,is more than prepared to take on the APC and democratically show them the exit door.


Hunter Guns down Palm Wine Tapper


News reports have it that health personnel at the Moyamba government hospital are currently fighting to resuscitate the life of one Samuel Conteh a palm-wine tapper who was shot  past  Wednesday  by a hunter Alusine Kamara at Hamadanlai Village Imperil Chiefdom in Moyamba District. According to report the hunter had gone hunting the previous night and having failed to hunt down any animal and it was almost day break he decided to pass through a big  cassava farm to hunt smaller animals. Report went on that while he was walking through the high cassava plant he saw a certain moveable object right at the top of a palm tree which he mistook to be a monkey and he fired without confirming what actually he saw. He is  currently helping the police in their investigations . 

 
Police Boss Warns OSD Officers


The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG)  in charge of the Operation Support Division (OSD) Mr Thomas Tamba Kamara has strongly warned his officers to desist forthwith from any acts that will bring disrepute into the force. The AIG made this warning while he was addressing his officers at Jui Barracks past Monday. According to reports the officers were warned to desist from  acts  of corruption,  conniving with criminals to commit crime, stealing peoples property while on operation among others adding that their sacred responsibility is to protect life and property.
