Bo School Celebrates Foundation Day

 

The Bo Government School on 13th September 2010 celebrated its Foundation Day at a ceremony held at the school grounds in Bo, Southern Sierra Leone. The Chairman OBBA, BO Branch, John T. Minah is reported to have said that the foundation stone for the construction of the School was laid on 13th September 1905 by the then Governor of Sierra Leone, Sir Leslie Probyn. The Principal of the school Musa Imam Amara reports say expressed satisfaction that since the inception of the school it has impacted positively on the lives of society as well as contributing immensely to the development of the country and the world at large.


Action Aid Meets with Disaster Management Team


Action Aid International Sierra Leone (AAISL) has on 14 September 2010 held a meeting with the Disaster Management Team at the Office of National Security (ONS) and community groups in Freetown.  Zainab Binta Senesie of AAISL is reported to have said that the meeting was meant to get the different communities to share information on the kind of disasters happening in their communities.According to reports, community people would be trained on disaster management so that they would know the various disasters and how to prevent and respond to them.


NACSA Trains 200 contractors

 

The National Commission for Social Action (NACSA) is conducting a- six-day capacity training for over two hundred contractors at the Fatima Hall in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone. The training which is said to have started on 13th is expected to end on 20th of September 2010. The NACSA Programme Manager for community infrastructure Sorie Mansaray is reported to have said that the workshop was to build the capacity of the contractors to adequately respond to future contract implementation.

 

ACC gets new Commissioner


The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) NOW HAS A NEW Commissioner in the person of Joseph Fitzerald Kamara. A press release from the ACC yesterday informed that Mr. Kamara until his appointment by President Koroma was Deputy Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone. Kamara holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from Fourah Bay College, and was called to the Bar in 1990. He also holds a Masters in Law in International Comparative Law specializing in International Business Transactions from Southern Methodist University, USA in 2000.
