The Councilor for Ward 374, Abu Yassim Kanu aka Yankra on Saturday 18th September 2010 commissioned a Public toilet within the Mabayla Community constructed by Concern Worldwide, an international Non-Governmental Organization working with communities to promote health and sanitation.
Addressing community people in the jam packed community Court Barray, Councilor Kanu thanked Concern Worldwide for assisting the community in the area of heath and sanitation with the construction of the toilet which he said would go a long way to ease sanitation in that community. He also commended the organization for their previous interventions within the community, citing the successful completions of a health centre and a community school in 2000.
Concern Worldwide evaluation team leader, Rajeer Khumar in his statement stated that his visit to the community was to evaluate the construction work on the building. He thanked the community members for their supports given to the construction of the toilet. He in that vein admonished them to always keep the toilet clean.
On behalf of the community Chief Madam Sillah also commended the councilor and Concern Worldwide for implementing such a project in their community. She called on residents to carefully utilize the opportunity.
In attendance at the commissioning ceremony were other local authorities from various communities.
