MP Hands Over VIP Toilets
The Member of Parliament representing the main opposition SLPP in Constituency 68 has reportedly constructed and handed over compartments of toilets to his constituents in the Upper Samamie in Bo City ,Southern Sierra Leone. According to reports, Hon. Rado Yokie constructed the four compartments VIP toilet in order to improve the sanitary condition of his constituency . President Koroma Congratulates Saudi Arabia
Local tabloids say Sierra Leone President, Dr Ernest Bai Koroma recently felicitated the Saudi leadership and the brotherly people of Saudi on the occasion of the Kingdom’s National Day. President Koroma is said to have commended the strong ties between his country and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia adding that the long standing relationship would continue to exit. On 23rd September every year, the Saudi people remember the late King Abdul AZIZ Bin Abdul Rahman al-Faisal al-Saudi who died in 1932.
Parliament Goes on Recess
The Speaker of Parliament Hon. Justice Bankole Abel Stronge ,is said to have announced on Tuesday 28th September 2010 the adjournment of parliament to 8th November 2010. According to reports, the reopening date November 8, would be in line with the state opening by His Excellency President Ernest Koroma.
Islamic Institute Director Returns to Freetown
Reports have it that the Director of the International Institute of Islamic Studies (IIIS) Dr. Hassan Shaarie is said to have returned to Freetown after a- three-week sojourn in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Doctor Hassan Shaarie has reportedly expressed his satisfaction and gratitude for the courage giving to him by the people of Sierra Leone since he assumed office as director of the institute.
Kailahun Chief Preaches Patriotism
The Hon. Paramount Chief of Kailahun District, P.C Mohamed Sama Banya had reportedly demonstrated an outstanding performance in preaching patriotism and nationalism as a tool to development. The Paramount Chief is said to have made this statement at the Kailahun Court Barry in Kailahun Town, Eastern Sierra Leone, where thousands of people were assembled. He admonished his people to come together and support the construction of the Kenema/Kailahun Road and not to politicize it.
Global Summit Hosted for Sierra Leone’s Future Leaders
A Non- governmental Organization, the All Founders has started a- two -day conference at the British Council Hall Tower Hill in Freetown. The conference which started on Wednesday 29th is expected to end on Thursday 30th September 2010. The conference reports say, is focused on poverty reduction and increasing wealth generation with the theme ‘My job is, owning my own business’. The primary targets are graduates from universities, colleges or vocational institutes.
FCC Awards Councilor
Reports have revealed that, the Freetown City Council has recently awarded Councilor Mary Kamara of Ward 346 in Constituency 96. She was awarded based on her outstanding commitment and dedication to duty, particularly in the implementation of council projects. In recognition of her meritorious service, the management of FCC is said to have presented to Councilor Mary Kamara the sum of Le 250,000 as an inducement for other councilors to emulate her good works.
