As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Zain and now Airtel will be proudly sponsoring the 3rd year of The MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA), which is scheduled to take place in Lagos in December 2010. Zain always sponsors MAMA in order to give chance to under ground artists to showcase their talents in the music industry all over Africa.

The inaugural MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) in 2008 was sponsored by Zain as a key pillar in our evolving music industry to give consumers and everyday access to music, platforms to express their creativity and give Zain opportunity to empower African music talents.

MAMA is arguably the only respected and trusted music awards ceremony on the continent. The awards ceremony is associated with MTV which is unarguably the biggest music brand in the world. This association puts a stamp of authority, credibility & conformity on this event. The MAMA;S 2010 promotion called  Zain Change is in the Air’ has been officially launched at the TAIA Resort in Freetown on Monday 11th October, 2010.

In his statement, the Head Of Corporate Affairs and Communication Zain Sierra Leone, Kelvin Kellie said they always bring exciting and hectic events that prolong the lives of their subscribers in all their operative countries.  “We are number one in providing care and needs of our subscriber,” he said, adding that all advanced and innovative technologies are singularly owned by Zain. He informed that One Network, Affordable Tarrif and Quality Services are synonymous with Zain everywhere.

The Public Relations Executive, June Rose-Johnson said Zain is going to sponsor MAMA 2010 in all their operative countries in Africa. “The exciting and interactive SMS promotion called ‘Zain Change is in the Air’ will kick off today to signify the launch of MAM 2010,” she informed. According to her, consumers simply need to register by sending their name to the MAMA short code 6262 and off they go. She disclosed that subscribers can also win by voting for their favorite 2010 artist once the nominations are announced and that each SMS costs just 10 units.

Further she said said that 10 fantastic prizes like Le500,000 & modems will be won weekly and there are tickets for all expenses like paid trips plus pocket money for the Road to MAMA event in Tanzania and the MAMA event itself in Nigeria.  She disclosed that any journalist that will provide the best coverage for Airtel MAMA 2010 stands a chance of wining an all expense paid VIP trip (including pocket money) to witness MAMAs LIVE in Lagos.

The Commercial Director of Zain Sierra Leone, Keith Tukei said Zain is always ready to share its profit with existing communities and therefore, they believe in giving the most unique and essential promotions that cannot be afforded by others. “We provide the needs, the best and most envious promotions,” he said, adding that the opportunities given to their customers were not done by mistakes, but on merits.

As the commercial director formally launched the MAMA promotion, the ceremony was climaxed by a live musical performance of 2009 MAMA, My Video Winner –Roseline Strasser-King
