The managing director for Mount Everest security agency limited, Michaela M. Abu Noah (Mrs.) has on Friday 22nd October in a press conference at the company’s Lightfoot Boston Street headquarters threw light on what she referred to as a self inflicted death of the former general manager of the company, Mr. Moses M. Mbayo.
Mrs. Noah said they have not got any knowledge of the real reason for his alleged suicide, since she stated that they were not aware of a suicide note. ‘Since the speculations are rife, and some of these hover around the late man’s final relationship with this company, principally his terminal dues, we see the need to clarify things in the public interest,’ said Madam Noah M.D. She further explained that before they heard the news, he was on 6th March, 2009 proceeded on eight months’ of accumulated vacation leave, adding that up to the time of his departure, management had formally written to Mr. Mbayo reminding him of the fact that he still had not produced the official vehicle that was in his care, a black Pathfinder Jeep that she said had not been drive to the office by the former manager for some months even before proceeding on leave. She therefore said it was a shock when they heard the news that Mr. Moses Mbayo has committed suicide. ‘So far for over the 24 years that the late man served the company, his calculated terminal benefit is Le28m (Twenty-eight million Leones) but before giving his benefit to the next of kin, his relatives should first produce the company’s official vehicle,’ she told journalists, saying the vehicle is valued between Le22 to 25 million leones.
In conclusion, she said if the relatives failed to produce the vehicle, the company would have no alternative but to deduct the cost of the vehicle first and whatever remains would be handed over to the next of kin.
