A group of APC grass root supporters composed of mostly market women from East-end police to Tombo has on Friday October 29th 2010 told journalists that they had made a donation of Le40,000,000 (forty million leones) into a special Bank Account at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Branch at Ross Road in Cline Town. The account was opened to help Afsatu Kabba raise money to pay her fines as levied against her recently by the High Court.

Speaking on the donation, the chairlady for the group, Cecilia M. Bangura said she congratulates “the iron lady” Haja Afsatu Kabbah for her courage amidst all difficulties.

Chairlady Bangura said that any leader who served his or her people well does not need any ancestral intervention for the people will always be there for him or her and since Haja Afsatu Kabba has served her people well, they will always be prepared to stand by her side and be there for her.

“Haja Afsatu Kabba has always been with the people, she has never laughed and enjoyed alone but will share what she has with others and use her own blessings to bless others so now we are here to bless her with our own money which we have been raising for the past two weeks,” Chairlady Bangura said.

She went on to say they were at the Bank in such large numbers as a show of force to help her know that she continues to enjoy their confidence and loyalty even after her conviction by the courts; which conviction, the women say they did not agree with.

Another of the huge gathering of market-women, Salamatu M. Kargbo, a fish dealer for Sierra Fishing company who is also doing her business at Guard Street, said in the less than one year that Haja Afsatu Kabba was appointed as Fisheries Minister, she had helped some 200 women to become self-sufficient by assisting them to set up their fish business.

Tabeh Conteh, a rice seller said Afsatu Kabba has been helping people before her appointment as Minister and that why they came together to help wipe her tears away from her eyes with small small donations that hundreds of them had been gathering over the last fortnight.

Ishmail Kargbo, student at the Freetown Teachers College (F.T.C) who is doing distance teacher certificate course add by saying Afsatu Kabba played a great role in his life as she paid his fees for him and such people should not be abandoned and he is ready to be behind her in any circumstance because she is a woman who does not hesitate to help suffering people.

Zainab Bah, the Secretary for APC Branch in Constituency 105 said on behalf of the Magazine Market women that Haja Afsatu Kabba is a good and nice women who assisted others no matter what region of the country you hailed from.

Mamusu Kabia, a fish seller at Rokupa added that they are really suffering in their hearts since the enemies have succeeded to defame Afsatu Kabba but God will surely help her and one day the true will come out.

A Group calling themselves New Life Sisters from Lumley said through their Spokeswoman, Zainab Kamara that Haja Afsatu Kabba has help them a lot and they will not sit and watch her go astray they will behind her to help fight the shame they brought to her and they will also courage here to keep the fire burning God will take control.

At the end of the bags of money being paid into the Bank and formally received by the Branch Manager, the women who numbered well over one hundred in number, posed for journalists in front of the Bank.
