Sierra Leone’s leading telecommunication company, Zain which is soon to be re-branded as Airtel- Sierra Leone is now headed by a new managing director in the person of RVS Bhullar (Teddy). Teddy has replaced the former managing director, Ted Sant-Phiri as was disclosed in a press briefing held on Thursday at the Paradise City, Lumley Beach in Freetown.
The incoming MD said he was marvel by the job done by the outgoing MD which he said made it possible for Zain to be the indisputable leader in terms of market in Sierra Leone. He disclosed that as a high profile authority in the company he would do his best to maintain the high standard attained by his predecessor. "This standard will be consolidated and enhanced to meet the telecommunications needs of the people of Sierra Leone," he assured.
He also commended the entire staff members for their professional dedication and selfless efforts that have earned the company superiority in terms of good coverage, quality network, innovative products and excellent service to subscribers. Mr. Teddy informed that Zain would soon enhance its corporate social responsibility to deliver support to the under privileged by providing free and quality education to deprived children in rural communities. "I am pleased to say that there is a tremendous growth potential in Sierra Leone, and I believe that our unique business model will allow us to unlock the true potentials of the country," he maintained. He assured of a good working relationship with the government and other stakeholders as well as the ordinary Sierra Leoneans.
In his statement the outgoing MD said he has always maintained standards and leadership quality during his four years’ tenure in office. He advised the remaining staff to work with the new MD in order to excel and control the telecommunication market. He said it was during his tenure that promotions like ‘Win A house’, ‘Zain African Challenge’, ‘MAMA MTV’as well as donations to schools and deprived victims of incidence of natural disasters and many others were done. He also said that many other products, including ‘One Network,’ ‘Black Berry.’ ‘Fambul Tariff,’ ‘Unlimited Calls’ amongst other were invented.
He ended by appealing to the new MD and the staff to work in harmony.
