In Sierra Leone, Drivers Visit Transport Ministry

Members of the Sierra Leone Professional Drivers and general transport workers Union recently met with the Deputy Minister of Transport and Aviation, Ransford Hancile to chat the way forward with regards to getting a single union that will seek the welfare of drivers and the general populace.


Speaking on behalf of the Sierra Leone Professional Drivers Association (SLPDA), Aruna Conteh aka Ambush Commander, said drivers, both taxi and mini-bus, are suffering with no one to advocate for, and protect them.

 

He pointed out that the drivers union is just busy collecting money from drivers for doing what he described as a sweet nothing.


According to him, this was the more reason why they decided to form the SLPDA in order to solve the numerous problems affecting drivers.

 

Mr. Conteh advised the Deputy Minister to critically study and analyze the two groups to determine which of them is truly seeking the welfare of drivers, and give them the mandate to administer the transport sector.

 

The Deputy Minister, Ransford Hancile admonished the two groups to dialogue among themselves, as they await the reaction of the substantive minister.


He however called on them to always endeavor to put the welfare of drivers first.
