Two New Mobile Phones to Commence Operations


The Minister of Information and Communications Alhaji I.B Kargbo has disclosed that two new mobile phone operators will commence operations in the country shortly. According to the minister, the Intergroup and Green Net have been issued with licenses to commence telecoms operations before the end of the year. This new development is said to be in line with governments policy of promoting a liberal economy and fair competition in the market place.


SLPP MP Cautions APC

One of the 23 SLPP flag bearer aspirants Hon. Elizabeth Alpha Lavalie has cautioned the All People Congress (APC) for the conduct of credible and transparent 2012 election that will be accepted by Sierra Leoneans and the International Community. The Hon. Member of Parliament is said to have made this statement during her recent visit in Bo City, Southern Sierra Leone. She cautioned the APC led government against any negative interference into the 2012 electoral process adding the SLPP will not accept any manipulated results.

Mateboi Braces Up to Welcome IG Munu

Executive members of the Save Mateboi Initiative are reportedly bracing for the pending visitation of the Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police Francis Alieu Munu come Saturday 18th December this year. The due visitation of IG Munus home town of Mateboi in the Sanda Tendaran Chiefdom Bombali District local tabloids claim was disclosed at a news conference held at the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) northern region secretariat sometime last week. Before reaching Mateboi on the slated date, IG Munu is expected to make a stop at Makeni to address police partnership board and other key authorities.

Top Chinese Investors Storms Sierra Leone this Week

A multi-million investments Chinese Company, AVIC International Holdings Cooperation, whose business interest covers world aviation, real estate, trade and logistics, and industrial investment are expected in Sierra Leone anytime this week, media reports say. This is in response to President Koromas appeal for aid in the aviation sector during his recent visit to the Peoples Republic of China. The delegation reports say would comprise among others the Sierra Leone Deputy Consul in Kenya, Abdul Kargbo

 

Kola nut, Bread, and Meat Scarcity Hits Kenema


Local tabloids reports monitored from the eastern district headquarter town of Kenema have it that its locality
is presently affected by the shortage in supply of Kola nut, bread, and meat predominantly having Fullahs as peddlers. According to economic and political pundits, this ugly development can not be unconnected to the current post-electoral fracas bemoaning Guinea.


USA Mayor Donates $1000 to SLPP Flag bearer Aspirant


Patrick Johnson, Deputy Mayor Potem of Dallas, USA has donated $1000 to Dr. Kadie Sesay to bolster her efforts to campaign for the flag bearer of the main opposition Sierra Leone People Party, a local news outlet has pointed out. The donation is said to have been made at a dinner hosted at the United Banquet House in Dallas quite recently.
