Publisher and Chief Executive of Awareness Times newspaper, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden will be returning to Sierra Leone today Tuesday November 23rd 2010 following a one-week trip out of the country during which period she participated in an unprecedented ground-breaking three-days Forum which brought senior officials from the World Bank, African Financial Institutions like the ADB and Ecobank and African Venture Capitalists to meet with African Media Leaders from all over the continent as well as get the Media Leaders to interact and learn lessons from powerful international media institutions such as Twitter.

The three days meetings hosted in Yaounde, Cameroon saw in attendance, over two hundred and fifty (250) distinguished personalities from all around the world, who are interested in enhancing the African Media landscape, come together to chart a way forward for the financing of African Media Houses as well as the promotion of Media Ethics in the practise of journalism on the African Continent. These invited guests, at the end of the event have issued the Yaounde Declaration that covers the consensus arrived at during the 3-days Forum.

Dr. Sylvia Blyden, who is the only Sierra Leonean who attended the African Media Leaders Forum spoke to Awareness Times on the line from Nairobi Kenya last evening where she is on transit back to Freetown. Sylvia Blyden described the Forum as very educative.

She informed that she will be returning back home today to Sierra Leone, transformed and also full of positive ideas about improving our media business and extending our news outreach. Sylvia Blyden also thanked the World Bank for fully facilitating her attendance which ensured that there was a presence from Sierra Leone during the epoch-making forum.

More details and photographs about the event itself and the Full Text of the Yaounde Declaration will be published in subsequent editions of Awareness Times.
