2nd December 2010
The Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) is calling on the leadership of all Political Parties participating in the 11th December 2010 Bye Elections in Kono to display the highest level of maturity before, during and after the bye elections.
The commission wishes to inform political parties and other stakeholders that the commission will be deploying its staff in all 24 wards where the elections will be taking place.
However the commission is advising Political Party operatives who do not have any business with the elections in Kono to stay away from the district.
The Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) is a constitutional body established by an Act of Parliament. PPRC has the mandate to register and monitor the conduct of political parties in accordance with sections 34 and 35 of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone and all the provisions of The Political Parties Act (Act. No 3) of 2002. The commission wants the public to know that the monitoring of the political situation in Koidu City by the PPRC is in line with its constitutional and statutory mandate.
