Don Bosco Empowers Salone Street kids with Transportation


Local media reports say a faith based non-profit making organization, Don Bosco fambul past Friday 3rd December this year unveiled a new social service bus for the use of street kids in Freetown. According to organization’s deputy director Samuel Thomas Bojohn, the bus will be plying among five slums communities in the city in order to  alleviate their excruciating plights.

 

FC Johansen Earmarked for UK Club Link


Sport commentators have advanced that the Chief Executive Officer of Cconvivia Global Group, Roy Ledgister has said in Freetown that Sierra Leone’s fastest growing youth club, FC Johansen will soon get international links with clubs in United Kingdom. This according to Roy Ledgsiter who also doubles as executive committee member of Fulham is because FC Johansen consists of raw talents that could be nurtured to become great starts.


Salone Born Sprinter to Jet in Today

 

Sport enthusiasts are reported to be in readiness to welcome Sierra Leone born Belgium naturalized sprinter Fatmata “Small” Bangura today Tuesday December 7th 2010 in Freetown. The legged sixty and hundred meters female sprinter during her visit is expected to embark on series of sporting events for the less privileged.


Sierra Leone Group Seeking Overseas Voting Right


Political pundits
have leaked that a group of Sierra Leoneans living in the Diaspora is s seeking for a bill to be passed by April 27th 2011 that ensures their active involvement in the democratic process through electoral voting. The Sierra Leone Policy Watch (SLPW) which is alleged to be spearheading the campaign is said to have a draft review of the “SL Overseas Voting Right Petition Statement’ which is currently being circulated for review, comments and possible amendments.


Cabinet Reshuffle Shock Leaves Zainab Bangura in Hospital

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Haja Mrs. Zainab Hawa Bangura who became the new Minister of Health and Sanitation sequel to past Saturday 4th December cabinet reshuffle is currently unwell from high blood pressure possibly emanating from shock and still in bed at Choithram Hospital, Freetown, a local tabloid claims. The minister who is expected to clear her former desk and start her new role was conspicuously absent causing public debates on her possible resignation on condition of ill health


Charles Taylor’s Verdict Expected by July 2011


Brenda Hollies, Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone is reported to have made a revelation in Freetown at Fourah Bay College past Thursday December 2 2010 that judgment in the case of Charles Taylor will be passed next year June or July. The court’s sitting in The Hague has concluded the evidence phase of the trial and written arguments from both the Prosecution and Defence are expected to be presented in January 2011.


Old Prince Waleans Boost Education


Eight dire in need but hard working Junior Secondary School Students of Prince of Wales Secondary School in Freetown last Friday 3rd December 2010 became beneficiaries of the school’s alumni association say media reports. The Old Prince Waleans Association gave each awardee Le 400,000.00 to cover tuition, books, and uniform expenses.


Guild of Editors Ends Budget Training


Media monitors say the Sierra Leone Guild of Editors has last Friday December 3 2010 ended sa one-day training session on budgeting at the Harry Yassaneh Hall, in Freetown. The present Managing Editor and Executive Editors wh
o were classed primary trainers are expected to pass the acquired knowledge to staff of their own media houses. The training was financed and organized by Journalist for Human Right (JHR).


Foreign National in Unlawful Possession of Arms

Court reports indicate that contrary to section 19 (2) of the arms and ammunition Act No 14 of 1955 which have been repealed and replaced by section 19 (2) (9) of the arms and ammunition amendment Act No. 17 of 1974, one American national Mr. Bradley Edward Owens is standing trail at Freetown Magistrate Court. Last Friday Magistrate J.O Wellington granted the accused bail in the sum of Le 3million but was unable to meet the condition which caused him to pass the weekend at Pademba Road Prison, report furthered.
