The Security Support Group International SSGI on 13th January, 2011 Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lumley Police Division of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) at the Western Regional Headquarters, King Harman Road in Freetown.
In his statement, the General Manager of SSGI, Mr. Jem Convery noted that they have thought it fit as a professional security agency to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Lumley police as it is their area of operations. He said the agency has the man power to help the SLP in their operations in the community, and also can be of great help to the SLP when given the opportunity to partner with them.
He revealed that his agency had on several occasions rendered professional assistance to members of the Sierra Leone Police and will continue to do so, more especially when such agreement should have come into force. He used the forum as an opportunity to reveal that before now they have been helping the police in their operations across the Lumley community.
Mr. Convery assured that if the agreement goes as planned the two institutions will stand a great chance to benefit from the agreement. He also took the opportunity to donate a brand new 13KVA generator to the Lumley Police Division as a boost to the division.
Responding on behalf of the Sierra Leone Police, the Regional Commander Western Area, AIG Chris Charley commended SSGI for their initiative in working in partnership with the SLP as they are really happy for such a venture being taken by a security agency in the country.
AIG Charley stated that the SLP is ready at all times to work in partnership with all security agencies to ensure a peaceful and calm city. He commended the Lumley Police Division for their wonderful job over the past few months, while expressing a special thanks to the Lumley Police Partnership Board for their support to the force and their commitment to ensure a peaceful community. He assured the agency of their fullest support and also committed the SLP to adhering to the MOU to the letter.
The Local Unit Commander of Lumley Police Division, Chief Superintendent Thomas M. Lahai assured SSGI of his commitment in working with them at all time.
