THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SIERRA LEONE MARITIME ADMINISTRATION INDICTED FOR CORRUPTION

The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA), PHILIP S.J. LUKULEY has been indicted on Wednesday 2nd February 2011 on a 194 (one hundred and ninety four) count charge under the Anti-Corruption Act of 2008.

MR. LUKULEY’S indictment includes the following offences; Misappropriation of public funds contrary to section 36(1), abuse of position contrary to section 43, fraudulent acquisition of public funds contrary to section 48(1)(a), failure to comply with applicable procedures and guidelines relating to management of public funds contrary to section 48(2)(b), abuse of office contrary to section 42(1), conspiracy to commit a corrupt act contrary to section 128(1), offering an advantage to a public officer contrary to section 35(2) and failure to comply with a requirement under section 130(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act.

The Accused person was arrested on the same day, has been granted bail to the tune of (Le300,000,000) with two Sureties to provide security in the form of real property of the same value.
