The President and Founder of 4H.I.M. in the United States of America, Steve Hollingsworth, has sponsored a pilot project for free surgical treatment for the poor in four districts in Sierra Leone.
The pilot project, which commenced recently in Port Loko, Tonkolili, Bo and Moyamba districts, has gathered momentum as a team of Sierra Leonean doctors running the pilot project have started performing surgical operation on tens of Sierra Leoneans for hernia and other related diseases.
According to the Project Director, Rev. Renner, the President of 4H.I.M USA hired the services of the Sierra Leonean medical practitioners to implement the pilot project which he said would be extended to other parts of the country provided it is successful during the first phase of its implementation.
He disclosed that more than twenty (20) Sierra Leoneans have successfully undergone surgical operation for hernia and swellings in the four districts, including Pa Santigie Kargbo, 67, of Rokom Village in the Port Loko District, Thomas Makaya, 40, Bumpeh in the Bo District, and Kelvin Babadi, 23, of Moyamba District respectively.
Rev. Renner disclosed that the surgical operation is free, adding that the project also provides free lodging, feeding and medication for a patient as well as transportation when the patient is discharged from any of the hospitals the project operates.
He maintained that this is not the first time 4H.I.M. USA has embarked on such philanthropic service which is geared towards helping the needy, those who cannot afford the means to settle fabulous hospital bills.
“4H.I.M. USA had been doing similar operations in Sierra Leone over the years and hundreds of Sierra Leoneans across the country had benefited from those operations,” Rev. Renner disclosed.
He described the 4H.I.M. President and Founder, Steve Hollingsworth, as a “true friend and sympathizer of Sierra Leone, who has helped this country in diverse ways.”
4H.I.M. USA, which has now divorced from 4H.I.M Sierra Leone, sponsored several projects in the country worth over US$700, 000 (Seven hundred thousand US dollars), but the President for the latter is reportedly yet to account for all the projects and; consequently, he has been dragged to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) that is now investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, impeccable sources close to 4H.I.M. USA have disclosed that the organization is desperate to expand its operation in Sierra Leone but, unless ACC handles the matter between it and 4H.I.M. Sierra Leone without fear or favour. Â
