No Bail for Rapists

 

Reports have it that on the reopening of the court session on Tuesday, the Chief Justice Umu Tejan Jalloh ceased all bails for criminals who were charged with rape, indecent assault and abuse of young girls. The Chief Justice used her discretionary powers to send the rape accused persons to Pademba Road Prison.

 

60 to Battle for SLPP Western Area Chair

 

Newspaper reports have alleged that six contenders have expressed interest to fill the vacuum left by the recent resignations of the SLPP Western Area Chairman, Lansana Fadika. Unisa Kamara, Brima Keita, Victor Lewis, Ali Dawsey Masallay, Alhaji Borbor Jalloh and Manso Dumbuya are eyeing the vacant seat.

 

Driver found Dead under his Truck

 

Kinnie Momoh, a driver for a Lebanese business man Fawaz has been found dead on his way to Kailahun, according to newspaper reports. Kinnie was driving a truck with registeration No ABO 351 loaded with iron rods and cements en-route to the Luawa Hotel in Kailahun. The truck got a break down at Saima Junction some 17 miles from Kailahun. Reports say the jacked vehicle incidentally fell on the poor driver who was underneath the truck fixing the fault. Kinni has been buried in Kenema.

 

Poor Equipment threaten Free Health Care

 

Local tabloids have alleged that the paediatric ward where children are admitted in Kambia is not conducive and it lacks adequate medical staff. The Kambia Hospital records disclosed that out of 1,009 children admitted under the Free Health Care between August 2010 to July 14, 2011, 58 have so far lost their lives. Most of the cases reported are malnutrition, malaria among others. There are only few old equipment allegedly available in the Kambia Government Hospital.

 

50 People made Homeless by Inferno

 

Local newspapers have disclosed that a blazing inferno has rendered 50 people homeless last Tuesday along the Waterside Road Upper Tengbeh Town in Freetown. Three houses, containing 15 rooms were gutted with fire. The course of the fire, which also burned millions of physical cash, is allegedly connected with light candle.   

3 OSD Officers Die in Training

 

The Director of Police Media, Ibrahim Samura has reportedly disclosed that three OSD personnel lost their lives while on training at Samu, Kambia District. Reports say they were on intensive training at a camp in Samu. The cause of their deaths has been attributed to disease.

 

Hon Alimamy G. Kargbo Awards Scholarships

 

It has been reportedly alleged that the All Peoples Congress (APC) Hon. Alimamy Kargbo of Constituency 99 in Freetown has recently awarded scholarships to 30 deserving pupils in three wards. Hon. Kargbo said the scholarships will continue as long as the pupils continue to do well.

 

Dead Soldiers Child on Life Support Machine

 

Philanthropist, Dr. Adonis A.M Abbud has recently pledged to support one of the children of the late Sgt. Sheku Mansaray who lost his life while saving UN peacekeeping operation in Sudan. Dr. Abboud said he will support the education of 8-year-old Tenneh Mansaray, who is in class 5. The deceased is reported to have left behind seven children and two wives. Dr. Abbud has already paid condolence to the family.  

 

Murder suspect denied bail

 

A murder suspect, Alpha Sesay has lost his bail to Presiding Magistrate J.O Wellington of Freetown Court No.2. Prosecutor told the court that Sesay was arrested near the corpse of one Amadu Koroma at midnight on September 14, 2011 along Free Street in Freetown. It was also revealed that Amadu died as a result of stab wounds, according to post mortem result. The matter will come up today in the same court.
