Miss Sierra Leone May miss London Contest!

The newly crowned Miss Sierra Leone/Miss Jubilee 2011 Swadu Natasha Beckley has expressed fear that she might not make it to London to contest the forth coming Miss World Beauty Pageant for lack of funds.

In an exclusive interview with the Awareness Times over the weekend, Swadu Natasha explained her frustration to raise the much needed finances to sponsor her trip to the United Kingdom but without any headway.

She revealed that she met with President Ernest Bai Koroma recently and pleaded her case to His Excellency. She said President Koroma gave her some financial support for the UK trip which she highly appreciated.

Swadu Natashas frustration was visible during the interview when she disclosed that the targeted amount for the trip is far below expectation despite the contributions she has already received.

Her fear for missing the World Beauty contest in the UK is apparent as the date is drawing nearer. The contest is slated from October 18 to November 6, 2011. She disclosed that she should have been in the UK by now to commence preparation for the contest. Swadu Natasha is therefore intensifying her plea to philanthropists, non-governmental organisations, mobile network companies, mining companies, Sierra Leoneans here and in the Diaspora and the Government of Sierra Leone to help fund her trip.

She won the Miss Sierra Leone/Jubilee 2011 and was duly crowned Miss Sierra Leone 2011 and eventually booked her ticket to represent the country in the forth coming Miss World Beauty Pageant contest in the UK. She explained that after winning the Sierra Leone contest during the countrys 50th Jubilee celebration, she exhausted all the avenues to raise funds to facilitate her trip but up to date she is not convinced whether she would be able to fly the Sierra Leone flag in the UK.

Swadu Natasha started beauty pageantry in 2008 in London and has since won several beauty contests organised in the UK, US and Africa. She holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Virginia in the USA.
