The SLPP National Secretary General Sulaiman Banja Tejan-Sie who is leading the battery of lawyers defending the SLPPís Hon. Rado Yokie and 13 others, has refuted published claims that their presidential candidate Mr. Julius Maada Bio will be called upon by the defense team to testify as a key witness and has called on propagandists of all colours to leave Maada Bio alone and cease drawing his name into needless made-up reports.
Speaking to Awareness Times, Lawyer Tejan-Sie said the defence team will not be making such a move for Maada Bio to give testimony in court as he noted that if Maada Bio is to testify, such an invitation has to come from the prosecuting team because as far as the Bo incidents went, Maada Bio is a victim who needed justice and is not an alleged perpetrator.
ďMy team is defending alleged perpetrators. We are not prosecuting anyone, so for Maada Bio to give testimony in court is not to my knowledge,Ē Tejan-Sie maintained.
Magistrate J.O. Wellington is presiding over the case which has been adjourned to Friday October 21, 2011.
